Gaming keyboard

The process of choosing a keyboard is almost identical to choosing a mouse. There are several things to consider to ensure that you can play comfortably and conveniently:

• Type of keyboard. You have to choose between a membrane keypad and a mechanical keypad. Membranes are cheaper and quieter, but lose out on response speed and service life. Mechanical switches are more accurate and have a distinctive “click” sound, just like a typewriter. Their keys have a rather long stroke, and typing with a mechanical keyboard can be a little awkward after a diaphragm keyboard. But contrary to popular misconception, it takes less effort to actuate the mechanical keys than the membrane keys.
• Additional keys. While you can do without the “free” keys, the multimedia keys are a little different. Their presence is not obligatory, but useful: it is very convenient to be able to mute the microphone or make the sound louder directly from the keyboard. • Keycaps. Many people forget about this characteristic and then are surprised that after a couple of months of use their new keyboard looks shabby and unattractive. Check whether the chosen model has rubberized feet, whether the hand rest (if any) is tight, and how the main keys are positioned. • If you want a headset that operates without noise and distortion, it should be at least 30-32 ohms, and preferably twice as much
• A long cable – at least 2 metres – should be included with a gamer’s headset. Of course, it’s best if the cable is detachable: it can be shortened if necessary, and in case of breakage it can be quickly replaced. Concerning the wireless headphones: we are not against using them for gaming, but it is necessary to consider that the average life of such a device from charge to charge is usually 15-20, maximum – 36 hours, then the game has to be stopped, and the wireless gaming headphones with microphone have to be recharged. In addition, the sound quality of such headsets is often somewhat lower than that of their wired relatives
• Another parameter to consider is the location of the control unit. Ideally, it should be located directly on the cord. If you have to blindly poke somewhere in the ear area while playing, it’s not an option for the gamer: it makes you distracted, and what the heck, you might press the wrong button
• Finally, of course, the materials of the gadget should be assessed. If the ear cushions have a memory effect and are lined with breathable leatherette which won’t make your ears sweat, if the bow is metal but backed with a second, soft one, if the body is made of quality plastic and the cord is in a good braid, you can go ahead. Still, don’t judge only by appearance: ideally, before you buy, you should play with new headphones for an hour or two, but, as there is usually no such opportunity in a shop, you should at least try them on. Usability is a big deal.
