Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Falls Below $189 on Amazon as Watch 8 Looms

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 has dropped below $189 on Amazon, cutting the price on one of the company’s more capable recent smartwatches.

The discount positions the Watch 7 as a direct alternative for shoppers weighing whether to wait for the next generation.

What the Watch 7 Offers

The Galaxy Watch 7 runs Samsung's One UI Watch platform and supports advanced health tracking features including continuous heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, and an energy score system that measures recovery and readiness.

It also carries ECG (electrocardiogram) and blood pressure monitoring functions, both subject to regional availability and requiring a paired Samsung smartphone to operate.

Samsung built the Watch 7 on a 3nm processor — a chip manufacturing standard referring to the size of transistors, where smaller means faster and more efficient — making it notably snappier than its predecessors in day-to-day use.

The Price Gap With Watch 8

Samsung has not confirmed an official launch date for the Galaxy Watch 8, though the company typically unveils new wearables at its annual Galaxy Unpacked event, historically held in late July or August.

That timing puts potential buyers in a familiar position: accept a discount on proven hardware now, or hold out for a newer model at a higher launch price.

At sub-$189, the Watch 7 sits well below its original retail price, making the discount meaningful rather than marginal.

Battery and Build

The Watch 7 ships in two sizes — 40mm and 44mm — with Battery Life rated at up to 40 hours in power-saving mode, according to Samsung’s official specifications.

Standard use brings that figure closer to 18 hours, which keeps daily charging a practical requirement for most users.

Samsung built the Watch 7 with a titanium-reinforced composite casing and a sapphire crystal display, targeting durability alongside everyday wear.

Where Smartwatch Prices Stand

The broader smartwatch market has seen consistent price softening on year-old flagship models as new hardware cycles approach.

Samsung lists the Watch 7 at $299.99 as its standard retail price in the United States, putting the Amazon discount at roughly 37% off.

By contrast, Apple’s Series 9 — its closest comparable competitor in the premium smartwatch segment — still retails at $399 on Apple’s own storefront, according to Apple’s U.S. pricing page.

That gap gives Android users considering an upgrade a clear cost advantage at current market pricing.

Samsung held roughly 22% of global smartwatch market share in 2024, trailing Apple’s 28%, according to IDC wearables tracker data.
