Ultimate Guide to Install Android OS on Any PC

Android!, now it is everywhere. Not limited to smartphones only, now Android watches, TV, and many more products are available in market. The compatibility, and adaptive nature of Android Operating system made it to be the first choice for most of the smart phone users. The usage of Android is becoming huge every day, developers, and marketers are looking to use it in many other areas too. However we are just users, we don’t have to think more of it. If you’re looking to install Android operating on PC or Laptop, whichever you have, then go through this guide.

You don’t need to run Virtual box, or BlueStack or similar utility to get Android on your PC. Just like you install Windows XP, 7, and, windows 8, now you can install Android too. 

This guide is written so simple that any one can follow it, and install the Android operating system. Having an Android operating system on PC will allow you to install Android apps, games, and anything related to it. So, you can have fun of Android on your PC or Laptop. It works on laptops, notebooks, and on personal computer too.

Read all the requirements, and pre-requisites listed below, and prepare your device accordingly.

Pre-requisites

  • You need a working Laptop/Notebook/PC with CD or Bootable USB stick (flashdisk) to install the Android operating system. For bootable USB stick users, we have provided a separate guide to make bootable USB drive.
  • Based on Android version, you must have following minimum space on partition:
    • Android 1.6 to 4.0 – 2 GB
    • Android 4.2 – 4.3 – 8 GB
    • Android 4.4 KitKat – 10 GB
  • You must have a proper internet connection to download the desire files, and tools.

Get the Android Operating system .iso file from →here.

Download the UNetbootin tool from here. This tool is only for USB Stick users, not for R/W CD users. It will burn Android .iso file to USB drive, and make it bootable.

How to install Android operating system on PC

We have written two separate tutorials, one for those who are using R/W CD Rom to install Android OS, and second one for those who have Bootable USB stick. Follow the guide as per your need,

For R/W CD Rom users

  1. Simply first of all, burn the .iso image to new black CD.
  2. Now reboot the PC, and go to boot device settings, select the CD Rom or DVD Rom, whatever you have.
  3. Now boot your PC through CD, and wait until it loads.
  4. Further, select the partition to install it, format the partition to proceed further.
  5. There will be a prompt, ‘Install GRUB bla-bla-bla”, something similar to this, then select “yes”, and another prompt will appear, again select “yes”.
  6. Another prompt will appear as ‘Make system r/w’, select “yes” to continue further. Let it done, wait for finish.
  7. Reboot your device.

For USB stick users

  1. Firstly, insert your USB drive to PC, then simply format it to clear it.
  2. Now run the UNetbootin tool, and flash the .iso to USB drive using it. Let it finish, and prepare a bootable USB drive.
  3. Reboot your PC, go to boot device settings, and select the USB drive from the list.
  4. Now boot PC using through USB drive, after boot up, UNetbootin menu will appear.
  5. From menu, select “Install Android x86 to hard disk“, and wait for it until it loads.
  6. Further select the partition, and format if needed.
  7. There will be a prompt, ‘Install GRUB bla-bla-bla”, something similar to this, then select “yes”, and another prompt will appear, again select “yes”.
  8. Another prompt will appear as ‘Make system r/w’, select “yes” to continue further. Let it done, wait for finish.
  9. Reboot your device.
