Apple's iPhone Air measures 5.44 inches tall, 2.63 inches wide, and just 5.44 millimeters thin — making it the slimmest iPhone the company has ever produced.
It weighs 145 grams, lighter than the standard iPhone 16, which comes in at 170 grams according to Apple's official product specifications.
Screen and Form Factor
The iPhone Air carries a 6.7-inch OLED Display — the same screen size as the iPhone 16 Plus — but packs it into a noticeably slimmer and lighter frame.
That puts it in direct competition with large-screen Android rivals, including Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, which Samsung confirmed measures 5.84 millimeters thick.
By contrast, the standard iPhone 16 is 7.80 millimeters thick, meaning the Air shaves off more than two full millimeters.
How It Compares
For users who want a large display without the bulk of a Pro Max model, the Air sits in a distinct position in Apple’s 2025 lineup.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max measures 6.30 inches tall and 3.02 inches wide, according to Apple. That makes it considerably wider and taller than the Air despite sharing a similar screen footprint.
The Air achieves its slimmer profile partly through a single rear camera — a 48-megapixel main lens — rather than the multi-lens arrays found on Pro models.
That trade-off means no telephoto zoom, a feature many photography-focused buyers consider essential.
Weight and Everyday Handling
At 145 grams, the Air is among the lightest large-screen smartphones currently on the market.
The iPhone 16 Plus, which shares the Air’s 6.7-inch display size, weighs 203 grams — a difference of 58 grams, according to Apple's specifications page.
In practical terms, that gap is substantial for single-handed use over long periods.
Still, the thinner chassis required Apple to use a smaller battery than the one found in the iPhone 16 Plus.
Apple rates the Air for up to 23 hours of video playback, compared with up to 26 hours for the iPhone 16 Plus, per Apple's battery life comparison data.
Chip and Display Technology
The iPhone Air runs on Apple’s A18 chip — the same processor inside the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus — rather than the A18 Pro found in the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max.
It supports Apple Intelligence, the company’s on-device AI (artificial intelligence) feature set introduced with iOS 18.
The display carries a 60Hz refresh rate, not the 120Hz ProMotion technology reserved for Pro models. That distinction matters for users who prioritize smoother scrolling and animation.
Pricing and Availability
Apple priced the iPhone Air starting at $899 in the United States — $100 more than the base iPhone 16, and $100 less than the iPhone 16 Pro.
It launched in March 2025 alongside an updated iPad Air lineup.
The device comes in three colors: black, white, and ultramarine, a deep blue shade Apple introduced across several products in its 2025 cycle.
