Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold is selling for $300 below its retail price on Amazon, a discount that has drawn renewed attention following a wave of leaks about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The deal is not new. Amazon has offered the same price cut on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold before, but recent speculation about the Z Fold 8’s specifications and pricing has made the Google device a more direct comparison point for buyers weighing their options.
What the Z Fold 8 Rumors Suggest
Leaked information about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and a reported Z Fold 8 Ultra variant has circulated widely in recent weeks. The leaks point to a higher starting price for Samsung’s next foldable generation, though Samsung has not confirmed any specifications or pricing.
That uncertainty gives the existing Pixel 10 Pro Fold deal more context for consumers already in the market for a flagship foldable.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold
Google released the Pixel 10 Pro Fold as its second-generation large-format foldable, running on the company’s in-house Tensor G4 chip. The device ships with Google’s on-device AI features, including call screening, Live Translate, and Pixel Screenshots, which indexes content seen on-screen for later retrieval.
At full retail, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold competes directly with Samsung’s Z Fold series in the premium foldable segment — a category where devices routinely exceed $1,700. The $300 reduction pulls the Google device below that threshold.
The Foldable Market
The global foldable smartphone market remains small relative to the broader smartphone industry. IDC has tracked foldables as a fraction of total annual shipments, with the category still building consumer adoption outside East Asia.
Samsung holds the largest share of foldable shipments globally, with Google a distant competitor by volume. Still, Google has positioned the Pixel line on software and AI integration rather than market share.
By contrast, Samsung’s Galaxy Z series has historically anchored its appeal on hardware refinement, multitasking features, and a broad accessory ecosystem built around its hinge design.
The Z Fold 8 does not yet have a confirmed release date. Samsung typically announces its next foldable lineup in the second half of the calendar year, with prior generations launching at events held in July or August.
