Vivo has released two Mid-Range Smartphones in China — the S60 and the S60 Vitality Edition — with prices starting at 2,899 yuan (approximately $428).
Both phones carry 7,200mAh batteries, large cells for the mid-range segment, and support 90W wired charging. They also share IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ratings, stereo speakers, infrared remote functionality, and X-axis linear motors — small vibration components used for haptic feedback.
Display and cameras
The standard S60 uses a 6.59-inch flat OLED panel with a 1260p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, which allows for smoother scrolling and animation. Both models include a 50-megapixel front camera.
The S60’s rear camera array consists of three lenses: a 50-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide, and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. The Vitality Edition omits the telephoto lens but retains the main and ultrawide cameras.
Both phones support 4K Live photo capture — a format that records a short video clip alongside a still image. New software features include a “Cool White Portrait” mode, customizable Live color grading, and a “Starlight Live” effect that overlays animated highlights on bright areas in photos and videos.
Vivo also introduced a “3D Spatial Visual Effects” tool that converts Live Photos into glasses-free 3D images by applying motion effects when the phone is tilted or shaken.
Chipsets and design
The standard S60 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. The Vitality Edition uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 7500 chipset, a lower-tier option that contributes to its lower price.
Vivo says both phones use a cold-carved glass back paired with a metal frame. A “Starry Sea” finish applies layered lithography and 3D etching to create a textured, reflective surface. Additional color options include Early Summer Green and Midsummer Night.
Pricing
The S60 starts at 3,599 yuan (approximately $530) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. The top-tier 16GB RAM and 512GB storage version costs 4,399 yuan (approximately $648).
The Vitality Edition opens at 2,899 yuan (approximately $428) for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, rising to 3,499 yuan (approximately $516) for the 12GB and 512GB model.
Vivo has not announced plans to sell either device outside China.
